Golf...Football..and Cyclones!
Hi Everyone!
Wow, I can't believe it has been over 2 months since I have last updated my journal!
My ankle is recovering well, and the rehab seems to be going to plan. I am yet to walk a golf course, but, I hope to start in a couple of weeks. I have been practicing my chipping as part of my rehab, and it feels pretty good. The ankle is the most painful when I'm walking, so it will be a challenge to get used to walking a golf course and adapting to the slight elevations again. But, I am looking forward to the challenge!
What a fantastic finish to the Australian Ladies Masters at Royal Pines. A 62 by Karrie on the final day sealed the win, and there was fantastic golf and low scoring from many players throughout the weekend. A great defence by Katherine Hull. There were plenty of birdies between them on the final day!! Great golfing girls!!
Without the golf to play so far this year, I have been keeping myself busy doing some study, and becoming involved in the local area. I have caught up with my family many times, and hung out with my nieces and nephews a little. Greg and I are excited to now be Palladium members of the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans, and we were at Skilled Park for their opening game to the NRL season last Sunday. It was a great weekend for Rugby League with some outstanding games, and the Titans got off to a great start for the season with a win against the Warriors. For my U.S friends, the NRL is the National Rugby League Comp in Australia, and, yes, the boys play without helmets and padding, a little different to your NFL players. They are incredible athletes!!!!It was a very hard hitting opening weekend, and there would have been a few sore bodies waking up the next day! You can't beat live sport, and Skilled Park is a wonderful facility. The rain held off just enough for the game to be played, and now the season is well and truly off and running!
As I write tonight, we have a huge Cyclone heading towards the Queensland Coast. We have had so much rain over the last few weeks, everything has really greened up. It's been tough to get out to the golf course - even if I could play. The cyclone will again bring rain to the East Coast of Australia - but let's hope it doesn't bring devastation to the populated areas.
Well, that's the news for now. Thanks for checking in, and once I am able to walk the golf course again, I will be back with an expected date for my first LPGA Tournament for the year! I'm looking forward to getting back out there!
Cheers
Rach
