Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a safe and happy New Year and Christmas Period. Let's hope we all have a happy and safe 2010 too!
My family had a lovely Christmas Day. It was, as usual, nice and warm in Australia, and we ate too much. My big day came on the day after Christmas Day, which we call Boxing Day here in Australia. It was a big day, because I dislocated and fractured my ankle. Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I'm sure you are wondering how, where, and how long? I have to tell you, I fractured my ankle on a skateboard, yes, a skateboard. Why was I on a skateboard you ask? Well, why not? I actually was on the skateboard to get a better at surfing......to get better at balance and my turns. I won't be doing either for a while now. And, I won't be playing golf for a while either.......
I was very fortunate that i didn't damage any tendons or ligaments, and the two breaks were "clean", so I have been told to expect 6-8 weeks recovery. As i write this, I am in plaster up to my knee, sitting here with my leg elevated. I have a fantastic surgeon, who, fortunately, was available during the traditional Aussie Christmas Break. He has suggested 23 hours a day with my leg elevated, and I am trying to stick to that as much as possible, as it will allow the rehab to start a little quicker. My family has been incredibly supportive dropping in to say g'day and help with some chores. My hubby has been great doing the chores too! And also teasing me riding the skateboard past me!
So, I hope that your New Year celebration was more fun than mine! And let's stay safe and be successful in 2010!!
Rach
