LPGA Tour Championship

Hi All!

It's great to be in Houston!

I have had a fantastic few weeks in Australia. It went by way to quick, but, we have a long off season this year, so I will get back to having some fun after this tournament. I played a little golf, a little cycling, and a little fishing.....Well, only one day of fishing. It was a very exciting day of fishing, and I must tell you how much fun it was. The last time i fished I remember being very young, and I believe it was part of a family holiday. Well, my catch in my first fish since then was........7 fish and 2 stingray! Wow! I had so much fun! Now, the fish were under size so we threw them back. I didn't have any take home, but, I was very proud of my haul! Most probably beginners luck, but, I don't care!!

My husband and I bought bikes for Christmas last year, and we ride most mornings. We are fortunate to have 30 kilometres of bike paths around our home, and we really enjoy going for a ride in the mornings. It is great exercise, and is way more fun that running! We also played golf at Royal Queensland, and one of my most favourite courses, Murwillumbah. We have been very active rotating all those sports. I did not have a chance to go surfing, as my shoulder has been sore, but I will certainly be back on the board when I get home next week.

Congrats also to Michelle Wie for having her first win on the LPGA Tour last week. She has been playing great golf all year, and I am sure this will be the start of many for her. We have had some big announcements recently on the LPGA with the naming of our new Commissioner, and the fantastic news that Shoprite is returning to the LPGA Tour. They have shown an incredible commitment to the LPGA in the years as sponsor of the Shoprite Classic, and more recently their presenting sponsorship of the Sybase Classic. We really have had some exciting news recently on Tour, and the return of the Shoprite back to the Seaview Marriot in New Jersey is truly exciting for the LPGA and our 2010 schedule.

So, now we have the LPGA Tour Championship at the Houstonian Golf Club. I played 9 holes today, and what a fantastic golf course. I played the front 9 because the wind was absolutely howling, and it was not the predominant wind, so I don't see any point playing on the golf course in that wind, when it will most likely be very different once the tournament starts. The greens are in fantastic shape, and the tricky bermuda will make hitting fairways and greens very important. The people here are so nice. Everyone involved in the tournament is so hospitable, and they certainly love their golf. It will be a challenge for me to get off to a good start with no tournament golf under my belt in the last few weeks, but, hey, you never know - maybe that is the change I need!

Thanks again for checking in. Apologies for the long Journal. Let's hope I'll have a lot to write about at the end of this week too! Take care

Rachel
