Navistar LPGA Classic

We are in to the final full field event of the year, here in Prattville, Alabama. Fortunately, the weather has cooled off for us this week, and the humidity and love bugs that were around last year have disappeared. Great news!!

We play a Robert Trent Jones Golf Course this week, and whilst they are probably my least favourite greens to play on all year, the golf course is in really nice shape this year. Many of the greens have two tiers in them, and along with the tiers, they have kind of quadrants to the greens as well. Putting on these greens has always been a challenge for me, so the goal for me is to stay patient, and hit solid shots into the correct quadrant of the green.

The people here in Alabama are so nice. We certainly receive that famous "southern hospitality" whilst we are here. Everyone from the fans to the volunteers are so enthusiastic, and the events that we play here in Alabama are incredibly important to the local community. The junior clinic held on Tuesday was attend by hundreds of children. I am sure that it is probably the biggest junior clinic that is held at an LPGA Tournament. It was so neat to hear of the kids laughing and cheering as they were being entertained by the Teaching and Touring Pros. Hopefully many of the kids will stay involved and will continue learning the game of golf!

O.k, last full season event of the year. Time to kick the game up a notch, and play really well. It was great to see Sophie Gustafson win last week. It was the first time she had won on the LPGA since 2003. That happens to be the year that I last won a tournament.......maybe a little of her good play will rub off on me!!

All the best
