Birdies For Breast Cancer
Wow - what a great couple of days! Cristie Kerr was kind enough to invite me up to play in her annual Birdies for Breast Cancer Charity Event. The day was held on August 14th, at the amazing Liberty National Golf Club, in New Jersey. It was such a treat to play Liberty National, as they only have two weeks until the PGA Tour plays the Barclays Championship there. The course was in fantastic condition and many of the corporate tents were already in place! There was certainly a great sense of excitement and anticipation throughout the day. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton, Battery Park, and were transported by ferry over to the golf course.
The golf course has views of either the Manhattan skyline, or the Statue of Liberty from every hole, and of course, we sailed right by the Lady Liberty en route to the golf course. We had a great day - how can you not, when you are surrounded by such an incredible skyline - and then we were treated to a beautiful dinner and presentation of team awards and the Courage Award afterwards. I also have to note that my team came second!! Woohoo! There was also a fantastic Poker Competition as well!
There were many incredible sponsors that were part of the day that included....Continental Airlines, Ritz Carlton Battery Park, Sweet'n Low, Double Cross Vodka, KangaROOS footwear ( VERY comfortable!), Pride Mountain Vineyards, Audemars Piquet, Clemmy's Ice Cream, Chauffeured Services Ltd (SMOOTH ride from the airport), and General Cigar Company, just to name a few! Thank you so much to everyone!
But, the real reason we were all part of the day, was to raise money for the Education and Awareness of Breast Cancer. Cristie's Mum and Aunt are survivors, as well as my Mum, so to be part of the day was really special. The monies raised will go to the new Cristie Kerr Womens Health Center, at the Liberty Medical Center in New Jersey. It is truly so exciting to be part of an incredible day!
