Surfers Paradise Golf Club

Welcome to 2011!

The Board of the Surfers Paradise Golf Club has been kind enough to include me in their plans for 2011 and invite me to become an Honorary Member. Surfers Paradise Golf Club is nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast, and has a demanding and tight layout. I am truly honoured to be part of an exciting and enthusiastic golf club!

My role as Honorary Member is to contribute and assist with the promotion of the South Pacific Ladies Open Classic. Surfers Paradise has been home to the "South Pacific" for the past 38 years, and I must say I was fortunate to win the event twice.......all the way back in 1991 (as a Junior), and 1992, 2 years before I turned professional.

The South Pacific is played over 54holes from the 23-25May, with the mixed foursomes competition kicking off the celebration on Sunday the 22nd May. There are 3 sections, being the Classic, Masters and Seniors competitions. I invite all ladies interested to enter as soon as possible, as the 39th year is becoming an extremely popular event on the golfing calendar in the lead up to our 40th Anniversary next year! The website link is http://surfersparadisegolfclub.com.au/, and from this site you will find the entry form. I hope to see you at the Classic!

And i wish all of the girls playing the ISPS Womens Australian Open this week all the best of luck. I must admit, I am not missing playing tournaments, but, will be keeping an eye on the scores. There are some exciting young Australian Players, as well as a large contingent of international players competing in the ALPG season of events. A big congratulations to 19 year old Ashley Ona on winning the 2011 ActewAGL Royal Canberra Classic last week. A big stepping stone for sure!!
Good golfing!
