Time To Get Tournament Ready
Well, it's been great to be home for a few weeks in Florida. The weather has been really warm, so the practice has been limited to early in the morning, or late in the day if the afternoon thunderstorms didn't arrive! And, we had a great trip to New York City for the Birdies for Breast Cancer Charity Golf Event.
The next event for us is the Safeway Classic in Portland, Oregon. Portland is one of my favourite cities in the US, so, I am really looking forward to getting out there. We have a change of venue this year however, and we will be playing the tournament at Pumpkin Ridge, Ghost Creek Golf Course for the first time. I have played the other course at Pumpkin Ridge for the US Womens Open. It will be a great venue for us, and I am really looking forward to doing some practice on their wonderful facilities, AND, enjoying weather without humidity!
There has been some great sport on t.v over the weekend. First of all, we have the final Ashes Test. I have been waking up each morning, and jumping up to see how the day has progressed for the Aussies. Now, as I look up the results at the end of todays play, it looks like England has won the Ashes!!! My caddie is from England, so, I was hoping the Aussies could pull out the win, and I could give him some cheek, but, it now appears I will on the receiving end!
The other sporting event is the LPGA's Solheim Cup this weekend. As an Australian, I am unable to compete, as you must be American or European born. The golf has been electrifying, and it is so great to see my fellow golfers showing the world what they are made of! The Americans have a slight advantage going into the back nine today, so, it will be great watching! My heart is with the Europeans though, as, that is where I first travelled to learn how to play pro golf, and some of the European girls are great friends of mine.
And, just before I get started on my packing, I must congratulate the Gold Coast Titans (Aussie Rugby League) for their win against the Sharks, and entry into the Finals! I have always been a St George fan, having parents that supported them from early on, but, now that I spend a bit more time near the Gold Coast in the off season, I'd love to see the Titans go well!
Well, thanks for checking in and reading my journal. I'm looking forward to getting started at the Safeway, and hopefully have some great golf to talk about next week!
